It can be quite frustrating to hear creaking noises all around the house. The problem happens when all or one of the door hinges are poorly lubricated or have not been lubricated for a long time. Another big reason is that dirt clings to the lubricant applied and hence make it into grime. Today we will tell you in five easy steps how to fix the problem. Also with how to get rid of it all by yourself.
It is always important to locate the problem before you can go about fixing your squeaking door.
If you do not know, where the problem is how you can even fix it? You need to know which of the three hinges on the creaky door is making the noise.
Finding it out is simple. Move your ear near to each of the hinge of the squeaky door and then after that ask someone to slowly move the door. This way you will know which one of the hinges has the problem, or whether the problem is with all of them.
Take a clean piece of cloth and wipe the visible parts of the hinges to take off the dust from the outer surface. This is important, as you do not want any dust to enter back in the hinge and make it worse.
Grime is formed when dust keeps accumulating on the grease previously applied to the hinges. Removing this will make it easier for you to lubricate the hinges to fix the squeaking door.
The best way to go about it is to spray ample amounts of WD-40 on the hinges. All in all, it has excellent penetrating capabilities which will clean the grime from the outside. In addition, they will also take the grime out from all the concealed parts of the hinges.
Once you are sure that the hinges are clean, you need to re-lubricate the hinges. You can either use lubricating oil available in the market or make use of the same ingredient. WD-40 also acts as an amazing lubricant and keeps things lubricated for long.
