Scratches on car paint are usually caused by a wide number of things. Poor parking, vandalism, car accidents, and so many other mishaps can cause a scratch or two on a great paint job. While these scratches may spoil the overall appearance of your ride, you don’t need expensive professional touch-ups or a course on how to remove scratches from paint. All you need are the following tips that can make your paint job as good as new!
Always remember to do a Patch Test before you try removing scratches yourself

How to Remove Scratches from Paint Using Toothpaste
Step 1
First, you should run your fingernail over the scratch to see if it is a deep one. If your fingernail isn’t caught on the scratch, then the damage is only on the surface. If these scratches are deep, then you will need professional scratch removal products (mentioned below).
Step 2
Before you can apply the toothpaste, you have to make sure the surface of your car is quite clean. This is because rubbing debris and dirt over the affected area will simply make thing worse. Therefore, to clean your car, you can go about it yourself or take your car out to the car wash.
Step 3
Now that your car is clean, you can apply about a quarter size of toothpaste to any damp microfiber towel. Here we would like to add that whitening toothpastes performed the best in our experiments.
Step 4
Push down your microfiber cloth on the surface of your car and begin sweeping over it using circular motions. You should continue to do so till the toothpaste is distributed well enough on the surface and rinse off any excess residue.
Step 5
Now, repeat the process once more and then spray your car with a hose and dry up with a dry microfiber towel. You’ll be surprised to find that there are no more scratches on the surface of your car!
Nothing Short of a Magic Trick: WD-40
If the toothpaste strategy doesn’t work, it doesn’t mean that you have to go to the car shop to get the scratches buffed out. We have yet another trick up our sleeve.
If you’re dealing with a heavier form of scratch, then you should arm yourself with this miraculous all-in-one product. All you will have to do is spray some WD-40 on the affected area and let it sit for about a few seconds.
Next, you can use a piece of cloth for rubbing over the surface of your car and we suggest using microfiber here as well. You can repeat the process as many times as you see fit; at the end of it all, you should be looking at a brand new looking paint job over the surface of your car!
