Follow these six steps to clean your patio door tracks :

First, open your patio doors and lift all the larger pieces of debris or dirt with the help of your vacuum. You don’t need to this vigorously – just make sure the tracks are visibly clean.

Now, mix about 240 ml of water with your choice of nonabrasive cleaner. Pour just a few drops of products such as dish soap, or any similar product into the warm water and mix well.

Here, you will have to get your hands on a wire brush and dip it into the solution you made in the previous step. Once this has been done, scrub the brush inside the tracks and try concentrating your efforts on where you think the problem areas are.

Once you think you have scrubbed enough, you can use some dry paper towels or rags to dry the patio door tracks. If you can still find any traces of dirt you can go ahead and remove them as well.

If you think that the door tracks are dry enough, close it and move onto the next door. Repeat the very same steps here as well. Once you’re done with this door, your tracks will be much cleaner than they were at the start of the process.

Finally, you should make sure that you repeat this process at least once a week.  As a result, your patio door tracks will keep working smoothly and won’t ever be an embarrassing nuisance.

Bonus Tip: Lubricating Your Tracks with WD-40

After you have cleaned your tracks every week, lubricate them. By doing so, not only will the doors open and close as smoothly as if they were brand new but will also stop any annoying screeching sounds.

To lubricate your patio door tracks, try some WD-40 and spray it into the tracks with the help of its nozzle. Lastly, just wipe over the tracks with a dry rag to make sure it is equally distributed in the complete surface area.

Now all that’s left to do is to try opening and closing your patio doors. Hopefully, you should see a major difference.
