How to Lubricate Luggage Zippers

Difficult zippers make it tough for us to get dressed in time and pack our bags – as if this wasn’t an annoying chore on its own. How to Lubricate Zippers Using Waxy Wonders

Can you believe that wax from white candles can release the stuck zippers of your luggage? The best thing about using candles for lubrication is that they cause the least amount of mess as opposed to the alternatives to wax.

So what’re you waiting for? Go ahead and get your hands on a votive, birthday candle or even a loose taper candle. Next, you will have to rub the candle on the teeth of the zipper wherever it is stuck from and then begin jiggling the zipper to make it move along its path.

You can also go ahead and rub the wax along the whole path of the zipper to make sure that it becomes as smooth as possible. Once the wax has been applied, make sure that you run the zipper along its path a couple of times to help the wax evenly spread all along its path.

How to Lubricate Luggage Zippers Using WD-40

Now, there are so many ways that you can lubricate your luggage zippers; white candle, lip balm, olive oil, graphite pencils (for sensitive zippers) and Windex. While all of these strategies may work fine, they have no comparison against WD-40.

WD-40 will not only lubricate your luggage zippers but will also make sure that they are steered clear from rust and corrosion. This product repels moisture and water from any surface it is applied over. This is why any damage the zippers may receive on your trips would be harmless.

When applying WD-40 on luggage zippers, do so when they are closed. Then, get hold of a clean washcloth or lint cloth. On one corner of this cloth, you will apply WD-40 with the help of the nozzle and make sure you don’t apply too much.

Next, you will grip one side of the luggage zippers with the cloth and run the wet side over the zipper tracks. This step needs to be repeated on the other side of the zipper tracks as well. You need to make sure any excess material is wiped off.

So, there you have it, folks! Your luggage zippers aren’t only unstuck but are also safe from corrosion and rust!
