1.    White Vinegar

White vinegar is quite an effective method of removing rust from metals because vinegar reacts with and subsequently dissolved rust. All you will have to do is submerge the rusted metal object in a glass of white vinegar for just a couple of house. Once this recommended period passes, the rust can be brush off the metal object just like paste.

If, however, the rusted object is too large, then you can go ahead and pour white vinegar evenly on the rusted surface and let it settle for a period of time. You may even use a cloth soaked in white vinegar to wipe over the rusted surface of the large object.

2.    Aluminum Foil

Another great home solution is to use a piece of aluminum foil that has been dipped in white vinegar. While using regular vinegar is a great option too but it would just take lesser time if you use the aluminum foil. One thing you could do is soak the object in white vinegar for a couple of hours and then scrape off the rusted surface with an aluminum foil that has also been soaked with white vinegar.

How to Remove Rust with WD-40

This multi-use product has been known to be a great counter agent against rust and as a preventative measure as well. All you will have to do is soak the rusted item with WD-40 and then scrub over it using a wire brush.

You can go ahead and test small areas of the rusted object to check whether WD-40 damages it. If you apply WD-40 regularly on surfaces that are prone to rust, you will never see the rust return.
